OUR VISION

TRANSFERRING KNOWLEDGE FROM ONE GENERATION TO ANOTHER

At Chase Oaks, we desire to invest in the next generation, as we ourselves are growing in faith, hope, and love. We designed the mentorship program to create an intentional path for generations to connect, to transfer knowledge, and gain wise counsel. Our heart behind Generations Mentoring is to not only create a culture where one generation invests in the next, but one in which it continues to be passed down—adults mentoring young adults, young adults mentoring college students, and college students mentoring high school students. In this way, not only are we empowering and investing in the next generation, but we leave behind a legacy that impacts future generations to come.

COMMITMENTS

  • Commit to meeting two times a month for a minimum period of eight months.
  • Follow a resource, but put your relationship first! Be quick to “ditch” the study. We ask that the mentee initiates in reaching out to the mentor.
  • Communication goes both ways, but we want to honor the time the mentor is giving to the mentee. So, as a sign of commitment, it falls on the mentee to check in and follow up.
  • Check in with Joanna Williams at least three times during the mentorship (more if needed) at [email protected].

GOALS

  • Pray: Invite God to guide and work through your time together.
  • Meet: Find a regular meeting time and place that fits both schedules.
  • Listen: Hear and value one another’s perspectives.
  • Ask: Seek to understand one another.
  • Affirm: Recognize each other’s current strengths and positive momentum.
  • Instruct: Share important and truthful feedback with care and concern.
  • Learn: Outline constructive steps to help encourage growth.
  • Reflect: Evaluate and celebrate successes over time.
  • Release: Help identify strengths, skills, and a future goal or next step to pursue.

Meagan Stanaland (Mentee)

“Mentoring has been a great way to connect with someone from a different generation that can offer immense insight, and a unique perspective for all the circumstances and challenges life throws at us. My biggest win is how much she has helped me grow my faith.”

Byron Byrd (Mentor)

“Mentorship will provide you great opportunities for personal growth while also fostering an opportunity for you to pour into your mentee the intentional love of Christ.”
