Local Choir

SHOW UP.
SING.
BELONG.

For the last couple years, I’ve loved singing and connecting with you all during our monthly Local Choir Nights and Gigs. Local Choir started as a way for anyone in our community to belong and sing together, no matter their church or spiritual background. And it's been an amazing way to create together, try new things, and make friends across a wide range of people.

May 6, 2026 was the last gathering of Local Choir. It’s been a fabulous run, and the vision to connect with our community beyond our church walls lives on

Thank you for being part of this beautiful journey with us.

FAQ

Local Choir is made up of people from all walks of life, all faith backgrounds, and anyone ages 13 and up. All are welcome here.

Yes! Kids age 13 and up are welcome to join the choir! Ages 13-15 need to be accompanied by an adult to any choir events (the adult needs to be in the building, so they can hang out in the Local Good Coffee Co. during Local Choir Nights.) Ages 16-17 do not need an adult present, but will need to have a parent sign a waiver.

Local Choir is free! Its really simple: show up, sing, belong.

Local Choir meets at the Café at Local Good Coffee Co. (201 Legacy Dr.)

Nope, but we were started by some church people. We sing all types of music, some songs are faith-based, and some are not. We believe that music transcends barriers and taps into our deepest humanity, which connects us all.

No! Local Choir is made up of people with varying musical skill. Some folks are hard-core musicians, some used to sing “way back in the day”, and some are brand new to music.

If you're on the email list for Local Choir, you will receive a Dropbox link with all the music for the next Local Choir Night. This will include lyrics, sheet music, and mp3 of all the vocal parts. Learn whichever part you feel most comfortable with (Melody, HI, or LO.) Get on the email list here.

Local choir is led by Wendy Child. Here's a note from her:

I'm a choir kid. Always have been, always will be. There is something about choir singing that makes my soul come alive. Its deeply human and yet transcendent—all at the same time. It's magic. When we breathe together and sing together, our barriers fall away, our differences seem a little smaller, and our humanity shines a little brighter.

We are a volunteer-led group. Wendy Child leads Local Choir, but it is run in large part by its own members. Whatever your skills or gifting, there is a place for you to lead the choir! Contact Wendy to see how you can get involved in leadership! wchild@chaseoaks.org.
