DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
"K-Pop Demon Hunters"
Choose the questions for your group; no pressure to use all of them.
Start Off
- Did anyone do any of the five daily practices from the last Group Guide? If so, is there a day that stood out to you?
- What was your favorite movie growing up, and why?
- For a quick summary of the message, you can read the “Sermon Notes” section on the main page of the Chase Oaks App.
- This week’s movie “K-Pop Demon Hunters” highlights an unseen world that affects what happens in our visible world. What are some of your thoughts about the spiritual world and spiritual warfare?
Reflect on God’s Word
- Read Ephesians 6:10-12. Who is the real enemy we are fighting against?
- Jeff identified the three strategies of Satan and demons to pull us away from God: shame, deception, and division. Why do you think shame is such an effective weapon of the enemy?
- Read Romans 8:1-2. What does this passage teach about shame and condemnation?
- Read 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. When it comes to deceptive thoughts, what does it mean practically to "take every thought captive," and how can God's truth help with that?
- Read Ephesians 4:26-27. Why is division so destructive to families, friendships, and churches?
Go Deeper
- Which of Satan’s three strategies do you most often struggle with: shame, deception, or division?
- Is there a lie you've been believing that needs to be replaced with God's truth?
- Are there any relationships where you need to pursue reconciliation or forgiveness?
- What habits help you stay grounded in God's truth during difficult seasons?
- What is one step you can take this week to become more aware of spiritual warfare without becoming fearful?
Pray
- Go around and share things you are thankful for as well as prayer requests.
- Praise God that Jesus has already won the victory over Satan and demons, and pray for God to help us reject shame, believe his truth, pursue unity with others, and stand firm in the face of any spiritual battles we encounter.
VERSE TO MEDITATE ON AND MEMORIZE THIS WEEK
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12, NIV)
PUT IT INTO PRACTICE (BETWEEN MEETINGS)
Day 1: Freedom from Shame
Read Romans 8:1-2. What guilt or shame are you still carrying that Jesus has already forgiven? Write down one shame-filled thought and replace it with a biblical truth. Pray, “Thank you, Jesus, for removing my condemnation and making me fully accepted by you.”
Day 2: Exposing Deception
Read John 8:44 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. What negative or untrue thoughts regularly enter your mind? Identify one recurring lie and find a Bible verse that directly counters it. Pray, “God, please give me wisdom to recognize deception and cling to truth.”
Day 3: Filling Your Mind with Truth
Read Psalm 119:9-16. How consistently are you feeding your mind with God's Word? Spend 10-15 minutes reading Scripture or starting a Bible reading plan. Pray, “God, please renew my mind and shape my thinking according to your truth.”
Day 4: Pursuing Unity
Read Ephesians 4:1-3 and Ephesians 4:26-27. Is there a strained relationship in your life? Take one intentional step toward peace: send a message, make a call, apologize, or forgive. Pray, “God, please help me become a peacemaker and please protect my relationships from division.”
Day 5: Living in Victory
Read 1 John 4:4 and Ephesians 6:10-18. What gives you confidence in spiritual battles? Thank God for three victories he has already given you. Then identify one area where you need to trust him more. Pray, “God, I declare your power over my life and thank you that your Spirit is greater than anything that opposes me.”
