CHINESE MINISTRY

Chinese Ministry at Chase Oaks reaches out to hundreds of UTD (University of Texas at Dallas) students and Chinese young professionals who are working in the area. Through variety of ways (Hosting for new students, English coanversation class, Friday fellowship…), the Chinese Ministry seeks to connect them to God and to deepen their relationship with God. There are opportunities for anyone, even non-Mandarin speakers to serve these guests in our country with the potential of developing life-long relationships.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT HOSTING

THE OPPORTUNITY

God is bringing the world to us! Every year about 800 Chinese international students will begin studies at the University of Texas at Dallas. Most of these students have formed their opinions about Christians through what they have learned in textbooks, the media and movies.

THE GOAL

At Chase Oaks we have an opportunity to help these students get engaged into one of several ministries that are focused on caring for their needs, building relationships, and introducing them to the love of God. We are asking Chase Oaks families to host these new arriving students in their homes for a short time, as they get settled before classes begin.

TIME COMMITMENT

These students need a place to stay for two to seven days while they make their final living arrangements for an apartment and transportation.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  • Pick up students from the airport
  • Provide students with temporary housing for two to seven days while they get acclimated
  • Drive students to the UTD campus as they prepare for classes to begin
  • Provide transportation for grocery and furniture shopping
  • Include students in your family meals

ENGLISH CONVERSATIONAL CLASS

This environment focuses on giving students practical skills that help them live in America while opening the doors for American teachers to develop relationships with students. Students come because they want to learn conversational English and American culture, and they stay because of the relationships formed. These relationships often lead to discussions around faith as trust grows during the semester.
