Moms are some of the busiest people on the planet. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom or a working mom, life can be busy as you juggle all the different roles you play while trying to check off your to-do list. Since we know how busy life can be and how we all need more quality time with our little ones, we have found ten life hacks to make mom life easier.
1. Use technology as a reward for doing chores.
One clever way of getting your children to get their chores done quickly is to change the WiFi password every morning. Print a list of chores and have your children complete everything on the list before getting access to the new password. Their chores will be done before lunchtime!
2. Order groceries online or through a pick-up service.
One of the simplest life hacks to make mom life easier is to use a pick-up service for groceries or order your groceries online. Since grocery shopping with children can be challenging, use grocery pick-up services at Kroger or Walmart. Just add what you need into your cart, pay online, and set the time for pick up! Someone will load your groceries into your car for you once you get there. This will save so much time for you and your family.
If you don’t even want to load your children into their car seats at all, order groceries online using AmazonFresh, and they will be delivered to your front door at the click of a button!
3. Use a mesh garment bag for washing your children’s socks and toys.
Every time you wash socks, it seems they get lost forever, leaving a pile of mismatched socks. A great way to avoid your washer and dryer from eating socks is to place your (and your children’s) socks into a mesh garment bag before putting it into the washer. The bag will also prevent the socks from getting stuck inside pants pockets and t-shirts.
Another great way to use a mesh garment bag is to wash your children’s toys. This is a great hack after your children have been sick or have played with the toys in their mouths. Just put the toys (e.g., larger Legos/blocks and action figures) into a mesh garment bag and place them in the washer. Some toys might not be able to go into the washer, so make sure they do not have electronic components and are large and durable.
4. Layer your child’s bed with two waterproof mattress pads and two fitted sheets.
When you have babies and toddlers, it can be difficult when their diaper leaks or they have an accident in the middle of the night. One way to make middle-of-the-night changes easier is to layer your child’s bed with two waterproof mattress pads and two fitted sheets. When nature calls in the middle of the night, simply pull off the outer layer, and you are ready to put your child back to bed!
5. Transform a dresser into a changing table.
Buying baby furniture can be expensive, especially since it is for a short period of time. Rather than buying a changing table, simply put the changing pad and cover on top of a small dresser. This can work as storage for clothes and diapers and as a place to change your baby’s diaper. It will also give you more space for that oversized rocking chair you always wanted!
6. Make easy meals for busy nights.
One of the best life hacks to make mom life easier is to freeze half of big recipes to save it for future meals. So, if you are making a large casserole, lasagna, or enchiladas, simply serve half of the recipe and put the other half in the freezer for easy (and homemade!) meals. This will save you time and money on those late nights after work or after sporting events.
7. Put together a binder for Lego instructions.
Most children love playing with Legos and blocks. After a while, the instructions for how to build different buildings, characters, and cars can get lost. You are left with all of the pieces without instructions. To save time from having to search Google, place all of the instructions in a binder. Use dividers to organize the instructions based on different sets or types of blocks. Be sure to keep the binder in a safe place such as the top of a closet.
8. Remove permanent marker from everything.
Children of all ages love coloring. And with the craze of adult coloring books (that children love to have), Sharpies are becoming more popular as children’s choice of markers. This can lead to having permanent marker stains all over your house. You can remove stains by using popular household items such as hand sanitizer, toothpaste, and milk! For more detailed instructions, check out How to Remove Permanent Marker from Everything.
9. Replace your ice packs with frozen marshmallows.
Small injuries are a normal part of childhood. Most of the time, moms rush to the freezer and make an ice pack to help their children’s bumps and bruises. But traditional ice packs leak everywhere and can make such a mess! To avoid the mess, keep a bag of frozen marshmallows in the freezer, and use it to nurse your child’s next injury.
10. Make a bracelet with your number on it.
When your child is getting ready to attend their first playdate without you, it can be a little overwhelming. So, to make sure your child has the information to reach you, make a small bracelet with your phone number. You can make it with your child using number charms. It can be a fun craft that will make the next playdate seem easier.
