What is Q Commons?
Q Commons is a two-hour event that connects national and local leaders to neighbors and friends in your community for a conversation on how we can advance good thinking, action, and virtue in a tumultuous culture.
Q Commons is known for doing more than just asserting opinions. It is known for creating a safe space where we can generate the best ideas on how to make a difference in our communities and create a better future for the next generation.
At Q Commons, the talks are short, TED Talks-style presentations from multiple sectors of society. The talks will be centered on this year’s theme, “Create a Better Future,” and will focus on how we can be leaders and engage our communities in a way that brings hope during this critical cultural moment.
Why Should I Attend Q Commons 2019?
Q Commons can give you a better understanding of our community and how we can come together to transform communities using our gifts and passions. It will provide encouragement and support and give you and your neighbors a voice in solving some of the most pressing issues in our culture today.
In a divided world where there are plenty of problems to solve, we will brainstorm practical ways we can offer hope in our culture as we gather, dream, discuss, and think well about the future. We want to be the kind of people who bring tangible solutions to our cities and advance the common good.
Attending Q Commons 2019 will allow us to be a voice for our neighbors and collaborate on how we can bring change for the common good of our communities. Let’s become people who encourage the good, clarify the confused, and create what’s missing.
Who Are the National Speakers at Q Commons 2019?
There will be some amazing speakers at this year’s Q Commons. National speakers will include Bestselling Author and Journalist Malcolm Gladwell, Author and Preacher Francis Chan, and Bestselling Author and Speaker Rebekah Lyons.
Meet Malcolm Gladwell
Malcolm Gladwell is the author of five New York Times bestsellers—The Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers, What the Dog Saw, and David and Goliath. He is also the co-founder of Pushkin Industries, an audio content company that produces the podcasts Revisionist History and Broken Record.
Gladwell has been included in the TIME 100 Most Influential People list and touted as one of Foreign Policy’s Top Global Thinkers. His new book—Talking to Strangers—will help us think about how to create a better future for our communities as he addresses how we talk to strangers and where those conversations often go wrong.
Meet Francis Chan
Francis Chan is an American preacher and the former teaching pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, CA. He is the bestselling author of Crazy Love, Forgotten God, and most recently, Letters to the Church, a challenge for Christians to be the Church as God intends.
Currently, Francis is planting churches in the San Francisco area and has a countrywide discipleship movement, Multiply, with David Platt. Francis will deliver a talk on how we can create a better future by building a true community in and through the church.
Meet Rebekah Lyons
Rebekah Lyons is a national speaker and bestselling author of You Are Free and Freefall to Fly. An old soul with a contemporary, honest voice, Rebekah reveals her own battles with overcoming anxiety and depression and invites others to discover and boldly pursue their God-given purpose.
Her work has been featured on Good Morning America, CNN, Huffington Post, The Tennessean, Publisher’s Weekly, and more. We’re excited to have Rebekah talk at Q Commons this year to address how we can create a better future for ourselves as we establish healthy daily rhythms for emotional health in an age of distraction.
