Love Does The Unexpected is about spreading love throughout our community as we act surprisingly, give generously, and share broadly. Act surprisingly is about engaging our community in creative ways. It is about doing the unexpected in our community as we love others in surprising ways in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools.
This spring, Chase Oakers at our Sloan Creek Campus, Woodbridge Campus, and Richardson Campus acted surprisingly in many ways throughout their community. From supporting local organizations to hosting events for local schools, they made a difference in so many lives.
Doing the Unexpected in Our Community
Loving the Woodbridge Community
The Woodbridge Campus, located in the Wylie/Sachse community, partnered with 5 Loaves Food Pantry to make a difference as they served approximately 150 clients by hosting a family appreciation event. 30 volunteers served the clients by giving free haircuts, serving lunch, painting nails, making balloon animals, and running bounce houses and games. It was a day filled with fun, food, and fellowship!
Aside from hosting its family appreciation event, 10-15 Chase Oakers also helped the food pantry by repairing a shed and stocking shelves. Chase Oaks also donated a new shed to be used as a clothing closet for their clients.
Loving the Sloan Creek Community
The Sloan Creek Campus, located in the Allen/Fairview community, partnered with local nonprofit organizations to make a difference in their community.
Sloan Creek collected food and clothing for the ACO Food Pantry, Family Promise, Shiloh Place, and the Collin County Crime Victims’ Council. They also hosted an Evening of Empowerment where they served over 100 victims of crime in our community.
Chase Oakers also supported and loved on single moms by hosting a Mother’s Day lunch at Shiloh Place. The volunteers enjoyed connecting with the moms, and the moms were so excited to be treated so special.
Loving the Richardson Community
The Richardson Campus, located in Richardson, TX, partnered with Feed My Starving Children to pack scientifically formulated meals for undernourished children that are distributed to a network of partners in 70+ countries.
As they worked with their partner to serve the country of Uganda, 77 Chase Oakers and other volunteers packed 40,176 meals. Chase Oaks donated $1,866 to cover the cost of 8,181 meals. This was a powerful evening of serving local and global partners while connecting with volunteers in the Richardson community.
Doing the Unexpected in Our Schools
Chase Oakers from the Woodbridge Campus served breakfast and lunch to 80 teachers at Hartman Elementary in Wylie, TX, for teacher appreciation week. Children from a local neighborhood hosted an appreciation party for bus drivers to show their love and appreciation for their hard work throughout the school year.
Chase Oakers from the Sloan Creek Campus served Rountree Elementary in Allen, TX, at their Book Fair and Muffins with Mom events. The volunteers brought smiling faces as they poured love into the school’s students, parents, and staff.
“Thank you for pouring into our lives! Thank you, also, for serving side-by-side with our students, parents, and staff. As an extension of our Rountree Family, we appreciate you for giving of your time and your talents to teach with your lives while honoring our families!”— Impact Statement from Rountree Elementary
This summer, there will be more opportunities for Chase Oakers to come together to support the teachers and students in our community at all of our campuses. Stay tuned to our website for more details!
