OpenTable-picOpen Table is a growing movement of faith communities seeking to re-focus from poverty maintenance to poverty transformation.  The Open Table model is a catalyst for powerful collaboration between faith communities, transitional organizations, clinical psychology, government, local business and non-profit organizations and resources.  Together, this unique collaboration builds encouraging and accountable partnerships with people in poverty so they may live into their human potential.

Open Table began its innovative program in 2005 when it developed a volunteer-led process to restore one Phoenix homeless man to wholeness.  The process was a success, and interest in the “Table” model grew until Open Table became a 501(c)(3) organization in 2007.  Open Table is a proven, effective, poverty transformation model that provides a restorative path to wholeness and self-sufficiency.

In Open Table, human equality is a foundation of the journey.  The people helped by a Table are referred to as “Brothers and Sisters.”  Faith community members serving on the Table are “Chairs,” “Table Members” and always Brothers and Sisters.

Chase Oaks Church has gotten involved with this exciting model to make a long-term impact in the lives of  individuals in our community.  There are currently three Tables operating at Chase Oaks and we hope to launch more throughout the coming year.  To learn more about Open Table, check out these links and contact Brad and Shannan McEowen.
