Parent/Child Dedication

This is a special time of commitment in which parents affirm their own faith in Jesus Christ and promise to model and teach this faith to their children. It is also a commitment of family and friends to provide a loving, biblical community that supports and prays for each family.

Attendance at the “First Steps” parent orientation is highly recommended prior to participation in the dedication ceremony.

Parent/Child Dedication is Not Infant Baptism
We believe baptism to be a public statement of faith showing a personal belief in Jesus Christ.  Infants cannot make this personal decision.  Therefore, we offer baptism to older children as an act of obedience to Jesus who both modeled it and commanded it in His ministry.

Steps to Register for Parent/Child Dedication
While many parents dedicate very young children, your child does not have to be an infant.  You can participate no matter what your child’s age.

1)  Select a dedication date:

Dedications are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Legacy campus.  Family and friends are welcome to   attend. Refreshments will be served. The room location will be determined.

  • February 12, 2012 (online registration begins December 1, 2011)
  • May 20, 2012 (online registration begins March 1, 2012)
  • August 12, 2012 (online registration begins June 1, 2012)
  • November 11, 2012 (online registration begins September 1, 2012)

A Parent’s Covenant

You will be asked at the end of the dedication to commit to this pledge:

“Declaring Christ as my Savior and Lord and believing in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I this day acknowledge that my children are gifts from God, that I am a caretaker by His grace and, therefore, accept the responsibility for raising my family to know and follow Jesus.  I commit to impress upon them the truth and love of God so they may one day know Jesus as their personal Savior and lead lives directed by biblical values and high moral standards.”
